Our plan was to spend time in Nice, Marseille and Aix en Provence … but six hours before departure from Atlanta we decided to add Lyon and end the month in Paris. What a great idea it was! Lots of new images for shows this summer.
Guatemala and Nicaragua

It was wonderful, traveling in Central America again this year. We had memories of travel to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala from the early 90s. It is still unspoiled … no condos or high-rise apartments … just the incredible lake surrounded by long-dormant (that’s good news) volcanoes. We traveled to Guatemala from Nicaragua, exploring the northern section of that country, the coffee and tobacco plantation area. The beauty of two towns stays with us … Granada in Nicaragua and Antigua in Guatemala. Both are Colonial towns with squares full of activity and markets, terrific restaurants and hotels. And, for us, of course, great photo opportunities!
London & Scotland

Well, how did we manage only two hours of rain in two weeks? The top was down every day. London and Edinburgh and a wonderful time in the country at Dunkeld, Scotland. We are very happy with our London and Scotland images. The photo of Dan is at the amazing Old Course in St. Andrews. A few years ago he was “Grandpa Jones” in the movie The Bobby Jones Story and we had a terrific tour with the Director of the Trust at St. Andrews. He didn’t even seem to mind we don’t play golf, and was gracious with his knowledge and time.
Egypt and Rome …

Egypt was an amazing experience … everything you’ve ever thought it would be, it was. We had a chance to hear Dr Zahi Hawass, the Vice Minister of Culture of Egypt, try to explain in an hour thousands of years of Egyptian history. He alone was worth the trip. The Great Pyramid of Giza, the Sphinx, the Nile, the Valley of the Kings, and Queens! But most of all the warm and welcoming people of Egypt. And, of course, Dan on a camel! And some amazing photos of it all.
On the way back to Atlanta we stopped for a week in Rome. Rome. A bit of cool weather and red wine and pasta were all welcome after the Egyptian desert. Because “when in Rome …” … well, when in Rome, we walked and shot this beautiful city.
Okay, we know the photo of Marion is not exactly like Audrey Hepburn, but it was a great “Roman Holiday”!

America, America!

What a wonderful summer it has been. We’ve only done shows in and around Chicago and, when we didn’t have time to drive to Atlanta in between … we explored some wonderful cities. We were able to visit Saint Louis and Milwaukee and see the kind of cities, parks, monuments and museums “beer money” could build! It was a wonderful chance to take some photos of America’s great cities.

Well … of course, the five weeks flew … with only two days of rain, and that was in St. Tropez, how bad could it be? (We kept the top down on the Peugeot anyway.) We are back in the studio printing and framing for the busy summer show schedule. We’ve had one show, the Atlanta Virginia-Highland Summerfest and our new images sold quickly. I take that as a sign we simply must go back for more!
Dan and Marion and Elvis

We spent a wonderful couple of days visiting Memphis … shooting some great Memphis sights, and sites… like Sun Records on Sam Phillips Boulevard. Shopping for antique frames, led by our guides, Shannon and Gerak. They are antique lovers and know all the spots. And warm southern welcomes — a terrific city.
Dan and Kobe and LeBron

Okay … I thought I was on a frame-buying trip to Chicago and Cleveland. But when Marion’s sister Meredith called and suggested I make certain I was in Cleveland to catch the Cavaliers and the LA Lakers, I took her advice. The fact that she offered a floor seat only made the offer of seeing Kobe and LeBron a bit more enticing. So, for my first NBA game I was spoiled. It was great.

The weather was perfect, the setting was beautiful. Delray Beach was The Place To Be last weekend … with snow and cold covering most of the United States. We were pleased not to be in Atlanta … but we are back. It was 19 this morning. Why don’t we have a Florida show this weekend? Burr.
